Awesomesauce

First off, I’d like to thank an old friend, Matt Lockett (http://twitter.com/mattlockett), for teaching me the word awesomesauce. The only word I can come up with to explain its awesomeness is awesomesauce. It’s just that cool.

Anyway, the reason I titled this post ‘Awesomesauce’ is because there have been some pretty awesome things going on for me lately. For one, I moved to Kansas City, MO, and I am officially a student at the International House of Prayer University! So far it’s been completely incredible. God has done so much in just this past week (the first week of school) that I could (and probably should) devote a whole blog post to it. Bur, to keep this post fairly reasonable in length, I will refrain from further talking about that right now.

Next, I would like to say that I have the best landlords ever! I actually don’t even like calling them my landlords because they feel more like family. I am so grateful to Robert and Abi for opening up their home to me. It is such a huge blessing and they are wonderful people. Plus, the other two young ladies living in the house are amazing too! God has so blessed me by leading me to this “family” to live with for this semester (and hopefully beyond)!

Lastly, I gotta give a shout-out to basically my favorite people ever – Mom and Naun (my grandmother)! I love them both so stinking much, and they were/are definitely the hardest thing for me to leave behind in NJ. But, thanks to the awesomeness of cellular telephones and Skype, we have been able to talk every single day (well, at least mom and I have… I have talked to Naun a few times since I’ve been out here, but not every day.)

Thanks to hurricane/tropical storm Irene, they have been without power since sometime yesterday morning/afternoon, and will possibly be without it for a few more days. But, they are so smothered in awesomesauce that they drove 20 minutes to Starbucks together just so that we could all Skype! (I would like to take this time to thank Starbucks for offering free WiFi all the time. Even after a hurricane.) So, I took a ride over to Higher Grounds Café and we all chatted over a cup o’ joe – 1200 miles apart. And let me tell you, that was one of THE BEST cups of coffee I have ever had. My mother and grandmother are such amazing people. Like seriously, you wish they were your mother and grandmother (and if you don’t, you should. On second thought, maybe not. ‘Cause I wanna keep ’em. Yeah, just ignore that previous comment.)

As I was saying, we had a really fun time. It was so good to laugh with them and make stupid jokes. For 45 minutes, I felt like I was back in NJ right there beside them. And it was so legit that we even came up with a pretty intense inside joke. Yup. ‘Cause we’re so awesome.

Oh, and I can’t forget to mentions that I got to chat with my bestest friend ever, Clare Bear, after I was done chatting with mom and Naun! Yes, tonight was purely awesome.

So there you have it, folks. My life smothered in awesomesauce. I have to stop writing now because it’s after 9:00pm, and I need to go to bed so I can get up early enough to make it to the 6am set in the Prayer Room tomorrow (you can try and spot me on the live webstream from 6-8am Monday through Friday here: http://ihop.org/theprayerroom).

Love you all!
-Rachael
